What's it To You?

With the most popular engagement season in full swing, let's talk about you!

"When I get married, I want to be sure that everything is generic and boring."

It can be overwhelming to be shopping for vendors - especially as you look through their laundry lists of "benefits" (why should you care what speaker set-up they use??)

When you're looking for the perfect vendors to bring your magical day to life, you need to know not only what they can offer you, but how they will help you to fulfill your vision!

If you have always dreamed of a Grand Ballroom wedding surrounded by 200 of your closest family and friends, your music needs are going to be different than if you only want 6 of your loved-ones witnessing your intimate nuptials with your toes in the sand and the waves crashing against the shore. And yes, you can still have live musicians for your private wedding in the forest!

It's important that you discuss your vision with your vendors from the beginning - professional wedding musicians will guide you based on your preferences to the ideal setup, best flow of song selections, and more!

To help you with your planning, we've put together a list of items to discuss with your music vendor to ensure everything important to you is covered!

1. Date

This should come as a no-brainer, but musicians get booked up! If you find a musician that you KNOW you want at your wedding, inquire about their availability immediately!

2. Venue

This is an important piece of the puzzle to discuss with your musicians. The location, set-up, and layout of the space where they will be performing your music can affect the equipment they need or restrict the number of musicians that can be accommodated.

3. Style

Glamorous? Bohemian? Country? Beachy? Multi-National? Disney? Bollywood? Pick a few words that describe your style, or make some up! This is helpful in determining the best genres and songs to showcase your vision.

"Wow, this is SO them!"

- All of your friends

4. Genres/Songs

One of the most fun parts of the planning process is selecting the music! Unsure of where to begin? Professional musicians will be able to guide you to the genres and song selections that best fit your style!

5. Proposal

Now that you've nailed down availability, tossed around some ideas regarding song selections and know how many musicians can be accommodated by the venue, your vendor has enough information to create a proposal just for you! It should include everything from timing and pacing to musical selections, so that you know every important point of your big day will be highlighted! After the initial proposal, they'll work with you to tweak everything to be exactly the way you want! Walking down the aisle to the Beatles "Here Comes the Sun"? Sharing your first married kiss to James Brown's ""I Feel Good?" We say YES!

Customization is the name of the game! After all, what is a wedding but the joining together of two people? Each of you has your own unique style, tastes, and favorite songs. "Your song" as a couple, or using the special song your parents did at their wedding as a tribute to their love and support through the years, that song neither you nor your friends could get out of your heads the first week of college, or the one you just KNOW will get everyone out on the dance floor.

These are the moments that create magic.

These are the moments that will make your friends turn and say

"I want my wedding to be just like this!"
